Follow the instructions for the advanced setup for computers running Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

This article is only of use if you have previously followed a setup guide and the Windows auto-configuration service has failed to correctly configure your eduroam profile.

  1. As before, bring up the network connections screen. However, now click 'Open Network and Sharing Center'.
  2. Click 'Set up a Connection or Network'.

  3. Click 'Manually connect to Wireless Network'.

  4. Enter in the network name as 'eduroam'.
  5. Select the security type as 'WPA2 - enterprise'.
  6. Leave the Encryption Type as 'AES'.
  7. Click 'Next'.

  8. Click 'Change Connection Settings'.

  9. Click the 'security' tab, then 'Settings'.

  10. Make sure the 'Validate Server Certificate' box is ticked, and the settings are as above, then click 'Configure'.

  11. Make sure the 'Automatically use my Windows logon...' box is unticked.

  12. Close the window. A balloon should pop up at the bottom right of the screen. Click it to get the login screen as below:

  13. Enter your username and password. If you're a UWA person, your username and password will be:
    username: PersonID@uwa.edu.au
    password: Pheme password
    Click OK.
    Contact your IT section for support if these are not being accepted.

  14. A 'Windows Security Alert' box should pop up. Click 'Connect'.
