The UnifiGuest service provides a simple method of granting wireless access to guests of the university.

Existing members of staff may sponsor their guests via a Self Service process.

Benefits

The UnifiGuest service enables existing staff to grant their guests wireless internet access with minimal setup time, making it perfectly suited for brief campus engagements and visits.

Once approved, guest accounts can be used immediately, ensuring minimal downtime for guests.

Key Features

  • Compatibility - Most current wi-fi enabled laptops, tablets, PDAs, smartphones and other devices can be configured to connect to the UnifiGuest network.
  • Ease of use - UnifiGuest operates very similarly to hotel/airport free wi-fi, making it very easy to set up on your device.
  • Coverage - The UnifiGuest network is available across the majority of university buildings; please view the coverage listing for specifics.
  • Duration - UnifiGuest accounts are created with a one-week duration; this can be increased up to one month on request.

How do I get it:

Guests of the university should request that their sponsor apply for a UnifiGuest account on their behalf.

Staff can sponsor a guest by requesting the creation of a UnifiGuest account via Self Service.

Support Hours:

Standard University business hours; Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm.

Prerequisites:

Staff requesting an account for a guest must have an active UWA Login.

Commitments

Individual sponsored guests will:

  • Consider the sercurity of their devices connected to UnifiGuest, as all web traffic will be attributed to them.
  • Not share their UnifiGuest credentials; accounts are not transferrable.
  • Report any issues to their staff sponsor.

Individual staff sponsoring guests will:

  • Only request UnifiGuest accounts for guests of the university (and not for existing university staff/students).
  • Report any issues to their local IT department on behalf of their guest.

Local IT Support will:

  • Provide support for the installation and configuration of software/hardware used to connect to the service.
  • Be the first point of contact for staff who require support.
  • Escalate incidents to Business Information & Technology Services via the self-service Service Desk as required.

Business Information & Technology Services will:

  • Ensure the availability of the service.
  • Discuss possibilities for network expansion with appropriate parties.
  • Advise of any unscheduled service interruptions.
